There were a LOT of LEGO sets unveiled at Toy Fair in New York. I apologize for just now getting around to bringing them to you. So far, I’ve shown you what to expect from LEGO Lord of the Rings and LEGO Lone Ranger. Today, I give you the 2013 LEGO Creator sets! These, my friends, are the ones I’m most excited about. These LEGO Creator sets will be out in August.
Why am I so excited about these sets? Mostly, because the LEGO Creator sets are what I remember LEGO being when I was a child. You get a great selection of bricks, and you get instructions to build several models from them. They let your imagination play as much as your hands.
31010 Treehouse
- $29.99 USD
- 356 pieces
What kid wouldn’t want this treehouse in their backyard? Love the water bucket system for getting water up to the clubhouse. Reminds me of the treehouse from the awesome movie The Sandlot. Great looking part selection with good colors and detailing elements. Perfect for MOC builders! And a great price/piece ratio!
31011 Aviation Adventures
- $59.99 USD
- 618 pieces
Bummed to see the fuselage is actually white. I was thinking it was silver! 🙁 Would have gotten SEVERAL of these if it was… So many nice detailing elements though.
31012 Family House
- $59.99 USD
- 756 pieces
LOTS of big, tan windows! LOTS of little tan windows! Two toned roof! Lovely detailing, and it looks like a fully furnished interior. I really wish it was a roll up style garage door though.
I can’t wait to get a hold of these LEGO Creator sets. Not for the models themselves, but for all the bricks included. I’ll certainly add a playground with a treehouse to my LEGO city, and will expand the family house into a LEGO townhouse. What are your thoughts on the LEGO Creator sets?

I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
I want the treehouse 1
I SO want that tree house! Perfectly accompanies my friends tree house (which I really love!)
Oh, and I agree, Lego Creator is what Lego is to me! And the big boxes full of bricks! We hardly had any other models as we were kids. (Okay, well, I didn’t. My partner has some great sets, which we enjoy building every now and then, like one of the old Egypt sets from the adventures series… ah, that one is awesome)
Yes, the big boxes of bricks back in the day were great. I think they were called Basic, or something like that. As much as I liked them, the introduction of Classic Space LEGO blew me away. Even the sets back then let your imagination run free with all the pictures of OTHER things you could build with those bricks.
I really need to get more of the Friends sets. For my daughter, of course!
I love the tree house! Reminds me so much of my childhood. I would have love something like this (a real tree house like plus and a Lego set like this). I also love the house. I’m a big fan of Lego houses.
I loved climbing trees, and building all manner of forts as a child.
The plane is outstanding for me. Just wondergul.
Speaking about the interactions of the blog… The question should be: how does TBB and other blogs get that much interaction? Should we offer easier ways or call to actions to improve interactions? It is a very studied theme on the net 🙂
I know on TBB at least, there is a LOT of commenting by children. I don’t necessarily want “noise”. I’d welcome good conversation like this with open arms, however!
As for making commenting easier, do people find it difficult here? It’s very easy to comment on your blog. And as a call to action, I try to pose a question at the end of each post.
I think a contest of some sort might be a bigger and better call to action though.
That is a really nice familiy-house! I think I’m gonna get that one… Like the build and as you said, it looks like there is furniture inside. Have there been houses in the creator-range that had furniture before?
Does the tree-house-kid really have a pizza in his cart… blergh…
I’m not sure on the furniture. I have foolishly missed out on all the previous creator house. KICKING myself for passing up the original tan one…
And I thought the same thing about the pizza. Yuck!
