I just found another talented LEGO builder on Flickr, angelo_s. I was immediately drawn to some of his outstanding apocalyptic LEGO photography.
This picture is everything I want from my LEGO photography and more. Shot by Angelo_s, this is the sort of image I will aspire to create. First and foremost, this is a fantastic LEGO model. From the curved ceiling, to the debris on the floor, everything is perfectly done. Next, the lighting is excellent. The harsh white light from a spotlight somewhere and the orange glow from behind create the perfect atmosphere. And then the shot itself is composed very well. The depth of field is wonderful, the slightly off-center perspective creates tension, and the focus on the out-of-place teddy bear is inspired. Along with the torpedo boat shot I featured recently, this is one of my favorite examples of LEGO photography.
Apocalyptic LEGO photography
I have no clue why I am so into all things apocalyptic. I love apocalypse movies, books, TV shows, etc. Apocalyptic LEGO photography fits perfectly into that list. I love the mood created by the lighting in the next shot. It feels so isolated. So alone.
I really like the glowing fires in this shot. They really add to the sense of cold, and desperation. Are you into the whole apocalyptic genre? I can’t be the only one, right?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
