Derfel Cadarn has quite simply redefined the LEGO castle theme. LEGO castle is no longer only defined by large defended strongholds or epic battle scenes. His creations bring life to LEGO castle displays and are unmistakable.
Derfels’ models are as ingeniously built as they beautiful. They show us what life would have looked like in bygone ages for the common people. They show us what the buildings inhabited by common people would have looked like. And he does it in entirely ground breaking ways.
Derfel has set the standard for stacked stone construction and the mottled look of LEGO castle structures. (And probably single handled drove up the price of 1×1 round plates in various shades on Bricklink!)

I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
Yeah, I’ve seen this one before… It’s awesome! So much detail, not a brick in the wall that looks the same and you just have to love that chimny!
The only thing I think could be improved upon is the roof of the well… it’s kinda to ‘nice’, to ‘straight’… it should be crooked.
I’d love to have this house and proudly display it in the living room! Wauw
Agreed. I’d like the roof to be a bit more shabby looking. Like the window frames.
