New Year’s Eve seems like the perfect day to talk about the best LEGO sets of 2017. Because I didn’t keep better notes, I’m going off of a post by Brothers Brick highlighting their picks for the Top 10 best LEGO sets of the year. I happen to agree with most of this list.
LEGO Star Wars Y-Wing Starfighter – 75172
I was really looking forward to this set, and it did not disappoint. It was the first set I bought this year, and I love it. The design is just perfect. Great little build.
LEGO Creator Expert Assembly Square – 10255
I will be ordering this set soon. It is the only one of the modulars that I am missing at this point. I got to take a close look at it during one of our LUG shows, and I was blown away by all the delightful little details.
LEGO Ideas The Old Fishing Store – 21310
I love the idea of this set very much. It shows that LEGO is not afraid to release highly detailed sets that appeal to the AFOL market. It is jam-packed with incredible detail and inspiring building techniques.
LEGO Star Wars UCS Millenium Falcon – 75192
$800? Take my money! What can I say. It’s a huge LEGO Millenium Falcon. THE set of 2017. Now if they’d just produce enough of them so I could actually buy one…. It would look great displayed proudly in my new house next year. 😉
LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City – 70620
I almost look at this set as one of the modulars. I love the possibilities it represents. More bigger and more highly detailed sets in the future!
LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V – 21309
This is another set that I REALLY want. It’s beautiful. I was obsessed with NASA and space as a child. This would make an excellent display piece in one of my offices.
What are your picks for the best LEGO sets of 2017?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
