As the years go by, I find myself more and more interested in trains. I’m in awe of their sheer size and power. I find them romantic; a reminder of simpler times. I especially like steam locomotives. It comes naturally that I would also appreciate LEGO trains. And there are some REALLy good LEGO train builders. Check out a few of them here:
This 4-6-0 was created by Caleb Randolf. Just stunning Check out more by Caleb in his Flickr feed.
Cale Leipart created these K4 models, and they are breathtaking. They are so smooth, and rounded, they don’t even look like LEGO trains at first glance. Incredibly well done. More of Cale’s work can be found on Flickr.
While not a steam locomotive, this art deco train by swoofty is pure retro joy. Love the lines, the colors, the nostalgia. Just looking at this makes me warm and tingling inside. As usual, head over to Flickr to see more LEGO trains by swoofty.
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
I love the Lego trains. We don’t have one yet. We have a Duplo train, but that doesn’t count 🙂 My favorite are the ones with steam engines. I would like to get my hands on the Emerald Night.
The Emerald Night is spectacular. At some point, I want to convert it into a Polar Express though for my Winter Village. I have a Metroliner, the Santa Fe Superchief, and some green and orange engine. I have a thing for trains. 😉
Some great models there. Having been brought up on the railways and with trains I have a soft spot for them too. We have a couple, one was a roughly designed one I did for ES, would love to improve it. He’s getting the motor parts for xmas so he can whizz it round like the cargo train we also have
Very cool. You’ll have to post pictures. I have several train projects I need to get to. I want to do a proper Hogwart’s Express, and I’d really like to build a Polar Express for my Winter Village.
