LEGO collects a lot of dust. How do you clean LEGO models at your house?
I’ve acquired several collections of LEGO recently, and there are a LOT of dusty pieces. I need a good, effective way to dust them off quickly. I’m the process of piecing together the sets that I can, and I want them to look like new.
How do you dust your LEGO models?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
I’ve always done the following:
Small- medium quantities (less than 3-4lb) put in a sealable jug (I use something like a fridge water jug – one you can pour with the lid on.
take a mix of warm water and washing liquid (normal stuff like fairy here in the UK).
put lego in jug witg warm water (not too hot). Close lid and shake vigorously (water reduces impact on parts).
Leave to sit for 10-15 mins
drain over a sieve/muslin to catch any small parts that fall out
Empty lego onto a towel and spread out
put another towel on top and leave somewhere to dry
Dont use this for stickered parts!
Also do a search in google for “clean lego eurobricks” there is a great guide on there…
I just use a damp cloth. It works fine for every brick I need to dust 🙂
How damp are we talking? Does it leave your models wet? Any specific cloth? Like a washcloth?
The cloth is just damp enough to pick up the dust
