This weekend, I took my some to the Maker Faire at the Henry Ford. It was awesome. In addition to numerous electronic displays, crafters, and costumers were a few Lego attractions. One featured a carousel made by middle school students. My son and I were amazed at the detail, and motorization. I talked to their teacher about it, and she said it was based off a set Lego released several years ago. I knew it immediately. The Grand Carousel. And I knew I had to make my own.
As soon as we got home, I went on the Lego website to download the instructions. (Yes, you can do that. ) As soon as I reviewed the instructions, I realized two things:
- It required the Power Functions base set.
- I was going to need a lot of tiles.
On my lunch break today, I went to the Lego store to pick up the Power Functions set so I could get started on my carousel. I was thrilled to see these dark tan tiles. I could pick up a bunch of them for cheap! I should be well on my way to owning my own carousel. I have a great mashup idea for mine!
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
