After you’re done washing your LEGO, drying LEGO bricks is critical. While there are many reasons for washing LEGO, there is only one main reason for drying LEGO. Properly drying LEGO will ensure it doesn’t stink! You know how wet towels that have sat around too long smell? They get that gross mildew smell? Well, that can happen to wet LEGO if it sits around with water trapped inside. It can be pretty gross!
Drying LEGO is simple
Well, drying LEGO in theory is simple. After I’ve wash all my bricks in a solution of dish soap and warm water, I scoop them up with a kitchen strainer and shake out as much water as possible. I then dump them out on a clean, dry towel. Every hour or so, I move them around, breaking up big clumps and making sure every piece comes in contact with the towel.
If you didn’t do a great job of shaking off the water to start with, you may want to swap out towels as they become damp. I usually do this for a day or two to make sure they are nice and dry.
After that, they are ready to be introduced to my collection. Just make sure you get those wet towels into the wash! 😉
How do you dry your LEGO after washing your bricks?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
