The other day, I showed you an incredible LEGO Hogwarts castle model. Today, I show you the same model with a feature that I love; LED lighting! As far as I’m concerned, LED lighting takes a creation to the next level.
LEGO Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
I recently played around with some LED lighting products from Brickstuff, and really liked the results. I’d love to know how Alice lit a model of this size.
There’s just something about light that really brings a LEGO creation to life for me. This LEGO Hogwarts is no exception. I do wish they would have used a warmer color LED though. When I think of Hogwarts and Harry Potter, I think of torches and lamps and other magical sources. This lighting seems a little too clinical.
The large window in the shot below does seem to have warmer lights. I wonder if different LEDs were used here?
I really like the eerie blue glow they achieved in the shot below. Very sinister feeling.
What are your thoughts on LED lighting in LEGO? Does it add to the model for you, or detract from it? I really love what it does for LEGO photography.

I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
Amazing! How much Lego pieces are in there? Wow!
I totally agree with you. Leds are really useful and give your creations a unique look. But the problem is that only few mocs can contain leds (Becouse of the size). Of course, this is one of them.
400,000 pieces I believe.
Oh my godness…
It is indeed an impressive model.
