It’s been a while since I watched Mad Max, but I love the franchise. I’m a sucker for an apocalyptic story, and Mad Max and the Road Warrior do not disappoint. I’m surprised you don’t see more LEGO Mad Max creations…
LEGO Mad Max and the Road Warrior cars
The lines on these LEGO Mad Max cars are incredible. So elegant, so perfect. And the colors are dead on, too. And I’m shocked at how many ways LEGO hose was used to properly detail them.
One of my biggest hangups, and a main reason I haven’t created anything recently, is my obsessive need for my LEGO vehicles to be functional. I’m constrained by wanting them to have opening doors. After seeing how beautiful these LEGO Mad Max cars look without them, I am going to reconsider this. Unless I plan on displaying a vehicle with its door open, I don’t see why it needs them. I do, however, still believe you need to be able to fit a minifigure inside the vehicle if that is the scale you are building. I wonder if these LEGO Mad Max cars can accommodate a LEGO minifig?
The front end on this Interceptor is so graceful. Love it. And I love how simple the windshield wipers are. Nice touch!
Looking at these windshields, I need to rethink how I approach these going forward as well. These 2×2 clear slopes just fit perfectly into the styling and shape of the vehicles they represent.
One more interesting note, the builder Misterzumbi, says all the stickers are genuine LEGO stickers. I’m not sure how this explains the pin striping on these cars. I wonder if they’re just carefully cut from the excess sticker surrounding the printed stickers on the sheet. If so, brilliant! This opens up huge possibilities for me…

What do you think of minifigure scale LEGO cars not having functional doors? Does it matter? What limitations do you impose on your own LEGO building?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
