TranceM89 posted a brilliant tutorial on Eurobricks for building a LEGO tree. This is a slightly different technique than I have seen in the past, and very effective. I can see this LEGO tree lining my city streets very soon!
***I am reposting the tutorial here for my readers***
LEGO tree building tutorial
This is the parts list. You will need more of most of them of course.
– 6L bar
– 1×1 round brick
– Sea weed plant
– 6×5 leaves
– 4×3 leaves
Step 1
Add a 1×1 round brick at the bottom of the bar.
Step 2
Add 5 more 1×1 round bricks around the bar.
Step 3
Add a ‘6×4 leaves’ on top of the 1×1 round bricks and the ‘sea weed’ plant on top of the leaves.
Step 4
Add some leaves on the sea weed.
Step 5
Add some more untill the sea weed is filled.
Step 6
Because the tree looks too open with leaves only placed on the sea weed you can add more leaves on top of the other leaves.
Finally the tree is finished and ready to be placed in a Lego city or other MOCs.
Very simple, yet elegant. I like the uneven look, and the roundness. This LEGO tree will certainly add variety to your MOCs.
Have you seen any other good LEGO tree tutorials?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
Nice guide!
There are many other guides on the net! Just to mention a Spanish one: http://www.hispabrickmagazine.com/en/content/hbm003-building-trees-ii
And there is a wonderful guide in Brick Blogger: http://thebrickblogger.com/2012/09/how-to-make-lego-trees/
Both have different trees, like your guide, so everyone is interesting 😉
Awesome. Thanks for the links! I really need to check out Hispabrick more. You post great stuff from them.
There is a brilliant guide here that ive used before here http://inspiredbrick.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/post-oak-tree-design-tutorial.html?m=1
Also an amazing “how to” from the classic castle lego site. …
I really like that gnarled tree! I wish it could be built in brown though, instead of black.
Im actually having a shot at building one now but sadly in black. I’ve only seen those hinges in black or grey.
There is a great pine tree done with palm fronds and the actual lego pine as the top on a German site somewhere as well…
