My MOC of the Week is this awesome LEGO zombie outbreak diorama. It it, we see a well defended enclave getting over run my a LEGO zombie hoard!
This diorama is big! Looks like a full two baseplates big! And you get a little bit of everything in addition to LEGO zombies. I see buildings, fences, swamp, rocky outcroppings, telephone poles, etc. Just TONS of goodies!
Not your Walking Dead type LEGO zombie outbreak!
I prefer my zombies to be of the lumbering around Romero variety, but way back in season one, even Walking Dead zombies could climb fences and use rough tools. These zombies look like they could even have a little World War Z in them.
I really like how this encampment looks like it was fortified and evolved over time. The builders didn’t worry about making the catwalks pretty. They just needed to make them work.
This burn pit is one of the most gruesome details I’ve ever seen in a LEGO model. And it would be a necessity, but I would have dug it OUTSIDE my walls. Then it could do double duty as a means of disposal, but also defense.
I’ve been trying to come up with a way to build an economical LEGO zombie horde, but haven’t had much luck. I want them cheap, but I also want my zombies to be diverse! This LEGO zombie outbreak is done wonderfully! It has minifigures from a variety of themes, and they all work well together.
My only issue with this diorama are the non-LEGO pieces. There are a lot of them. I see sandbags, barbed wire, numerous guns, etc. I’m non a purist fanatic, but sometimes, less is more.
Are you obsessed with all things zombie like me? Movies, shows, LEGO? What are some of your favorite zombie creations?
