I’ve been lucky enough to be the main attraction at a LEGO party, and I have the opportunity to participate in several LEGO parties this year.
What activities would you like to see in a LEGO party?
At the LEGO party I did, I offered several LEGO related activities:
- Large LEGO Town display
- 30 lbs. of play brick for kids to build with to their heart’s content
- LEGO building workshop
I also have ideas for other activities. I just have not tested them out yet:
- Large scale, themed builds
- LEGO building related contests
- Pinewood derby style LEGO racing
What do you think of these activities? What else would you like to see in a themed LEGO party?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
I just had a LEGO party for my son and we had:
LEGO Photobooth
LEGO Racetrack and Racers (build first then race)
LEGO Build a magnet
LEGO Balloon Pop with minifigs inside (and lego head push pins)
LEGO Picture Frames to put the pictures in from the photo booth
LEGO molded crayons we made and Lego candy for treats:)
I have pics on Pinterest I think:)
Very cool! I’d love to see your LEGO Racetrack. Can you share a link to your Pinterest account?
Most definitely need Lego building contests/games! That’s my favorite at parties and a plus would be minifigs, poly bags or some small Lego product as a prize. I always keep my eyes open after each holiday at a Target and have found poly bags for 38 cents! I also use them for party favors. I had a party with a long ramp and kids built cars, that was a hit. I love the items you listed. I would love to hire you and have you at one of my kid’s parties (or a party for me or my husband) but alas we are many miles apart.
Good to know people are fans of the contests. I’ve gotten that feedback multiple times. I originally intended on having a large scale display be my focal point, but then it dawned on me. Not many people have a large enough space for a 100 square foot display!
I do have plenty of CMFs I could use as prizes. Maybe even small custom built models.
I thought about doing a ramp like you mentioned. Do you have pictures of it? If I built one, it would need to be light weight, and easy to assemble.
Hi Eric! Sorry for the late reply. I don’t have very good or many pictures of the ramp but here is the link to my other blog where I wrote about the party. http://maybestrawberry.blogspot.com/2011/09/lego-birthday-party.html
I love the blog name change, by the way. I think it’s appropriate.
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback!
Very cool! Thanks for the link. That looks like a great party!
