I finally came to the realization that I have too many hobbies. Each hobby competes for my free time, limited space, and limited budget. Here are some of the things I’m into:
- LEGO
- Star Wars collecting
- Star Wars costuming
- Star Wars miniature gaming
- Photography
- Lord of the Rings miniature gaming
I have made the decision to cut back, and concentrate on LEGO.
I’ll keep the Star Wars masks and helmets I’ve created, but I’m selling off the bits and pieces of costumes I’ve amassed over the years, but never completed. I simply don’t have the time for it. 🙁
My Star Wars action figure collection is just too big, and I don’t have the room to enjoy. Sadly, there’s not much of a market for these right now. If you’re interested in mint, unopened figures, let me know. I’d love to trade them for LEGO! 🙂
I think I’ll keep my Star Wars minis for the moment. My son enjoyed playing it the few times we tried it, and I think it makes a nice rainy/snowy day activity.
As part of my LEGO hobby, photography will always be part of it.
I’m currently selling of my Lord of the Rings minis, and surprisingly, I’m finding serious interest in them. I loved this game, but sadly, my son just isn’t into fantasy stuff, and no one else plays this game anymore. Sadly, it must go, but it will help fund my LEGO hobby!
What hobbies other than LEGO do you enjoy? How do you make time for them all, and fund them all?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
For me its lego and egyptology.
I dont have masses of space so I sold all my old collections which were vinyl records magic the gathering (man I sold at the wrong time) and some very rare history books.
The problem I have is time constraints. I work a good 60 hours a week and have two kids under 4. I need to clone myself!
O my… let’s see;
Chess, Some graphic novels (ex. the work of Cyril Pedrosa or the tales of Bones), Some comics (Calvin and Hobbes, O.B. Bommel (Dutch classic), traveling the world, part of my work, time-management (don’t ask 😉 ), Dark Sun (an old ad@d-world), a little writing, Watching some series (ex. Star Trek, Lost, Dexter, battlestar Galactica, Game of thrones), reading (ex, the works of Carlos Ruiz Zafon), photography, Lego collecting (mainly minifigs), and my Lego photography and webcomic of course 🙂
Hmm… it’s more of hobbies and interests and I don’t think the list is complete, but I have periods of time that I commit to one or two and the others go a bit to the back… and then it switches again… I just can’t give up on anything, but some hobbies are very limited in time or only around the release of some products (series, books and novels and traveling), so when there is no release or trip; I have time for other stuff. For my website I MAKE time… I feel I have a commitment to that 🙂
