If you’re like me, and because you’re reading this I’m going to assume you are, you are searching for Mr. Gold anytime you see Series 10 LEGO Collectible Minifigures. It’s okay. You can admit it.
If you don’t know who Mr. Gold is, for the 10th series of Collectible Minifigures, LEGO randomly included 5000 gold-plated minifigures worldwide. No, he is not real gold. Just gold coated paint.
Anyway, there are a couple dot codes posted to assist you in searching for MR. Gold. yes, you read that right. There are more than one. What does this mean? To me, it means you can’t count on the dot codes. I think you’re going to need to feel for Mr. Gold in every pack you come across.
Here are some examples of the dot codes that have been posted.
As you can see, vastly different patterns.
Are you indeed checking every back searching for Mr. Gold? Are are you just searching for the figures you want/need and hoping to get lucky? My kids are going to make me check every pack, every time we see them…
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
Just wondering, Do they still sell series 10 in stores? I know were at series 11 now, but i keeps getting stuck in my mind…..
You can still find them in some stores. I’ve seen them recently at K-Mart and Toys R Us. Hopefully, they go on clearance soon! 🙂 There are still a LOT of Mr. Gold minifigs out there to be found…
I go for the feel route everytime too. I don’t think you can rely on dot codes as much these days as you possibly could in the earlier sets, as they seem to be a lot more discrete.
Just hoping to hit lucky whilst searching for others, although the kids would be quite happy for me to spend hours searching them all in the shop in the hope of finding one.
I’ve felt a reasonable amount of trendsetters so far whilst been feeling. Revolutionary soldiers seem to be far and few between here. Lots of baseballers and tomahawk warriors
I’ve never been good with the dot code approach. I know I won’t spend a whole lot of time looking for Mr. Gold, but I know my kids will. It’d be nice to find one, but won’t be upset in the least if I don’t. 310 reported found as of this post.
I too have come across an incredible amount of tomahawk warriors, baseball players, and motorcycle mechanics.
I’ve never used the dot codes. I’ve always just felt the bag, it’s a reliable way to know what’s inside, although I have read a couple blogs in the past of people who just can’t figure it out. I’ll be thrilled if I stumble upon Mr Gold but I’m just looking for my favorites. Unfortunately those are the rare ones. I hate that TLG decided to make only 2 sets per box of some of the minifigs since series 9. I have all I want except for Trendsetter, I just can’t find her!
I always fell the bag, too, to find what I’m looking for. But after I get all 16 from the series, it would be nice to have a quick way of scanning bags whenever I come across them just to be sure.
