I love a new take on an old theme, and this snowy LEGO castle qualifies. David Leest has built a wonderful castle scene, and then topped it off with LEGO snow. It works remarkably well!
This snowy LEGO castle makes me cold
The structures in this snowy LEGO castle scene are fantastic. I love the mix of stone fortifications and wooden buildings. I love how the different structures are aligned to each other. And I LOVE the stone work. All those LEGO slopes are used marvelously. And like my last LEGO castle post, this snowy LEGO castle is built with a pleasant mix of old and new gray colors. I remember when AFOLs around the world lost their minds when LEGO changed the gray palette. Now, the two colors co-exist harmoniously.
In addition to the snow covering everything, it’s the little details that really make this MOC for me.
- The little dots of snow here and there.
- The man getting drunk on the porch.
- The brigands below the bridge getting preparing to climb the cliff
- The icicles under the eaves (I don’t think I’ve ever seen this done before…)
And the bridge between the snowy LEGO castle sections is glorious. Love, love, LOVE the angled wooden supports underneath. And there is just enough snow to make the bridge passable, yet very treacherous.
What do you think of covering LEGO models with white bricks and plates to simulate snow? Does it work for you?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
