I recently published a post about the LEGO UCS Millenium Falcon VIP sale debacle. It now appears this will continue to be a debacle as the set will still be sold out on the official release date.
“LEGO VIP Early Access was available for LEGO VIP members on September 14th 2017. It’s proved to be so popular with fans that we’re currently out of stock. 75192 Millennium Falcon goes on sale from October 1st 2017, however due to the overwhelming success of our VIP Early Access, it will remain temporarily sold out. We know our fans are keen to get their hands on this amazing new set and we’re working hard to make it available again as soon as we can. We don’t have an exact date yet, but keep an eye on the product page on our LEGO Shop website for the latest information. If you already have a Millennium Falcon on backorder, we’ll ship it to you as soon as more sets are available.”
I am blown away by the number of people willing to shell out that kind of cash for a toy. And I am embarrassed to say, I desperately want to be one of those people! Oh well. This gives me plenty of time to sell of parts of my collection to pay for this beast.
Are you surprised the UCS Millenium Falcon sold out like it did? Will you be buying one when it is available again?
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
It’s amazing to me too that so many people would pay that kind of money. That’s what the combination Star Wars and Lego will do I guess 🙂
I myself am not THAT big of a Star Wars fan, and the bricks are all grey(-ish), so I’ll pass. I’m hoping that, in future, Lego will do an ‘ultimate edition’ of something completely different (a complete street, mega-castle… I don’t know, let people with more imagination than me think something up).
On the other hand… maybe it would be better if Lego would stick to the ultimate Star Wars models…. that will save me a lot of money, lol.
It is a LOT of money for a ton, but I am a HUGE fan of Star Wars. And LEGO! I keep going back and forth on getting this set. I’m trying to sell some stuff right now to pay for it. If I can raise the money through LEGO sales, I might get it. If not, I’ll download the instructions as soon as they are available, and Bricklink. I already amassed 90% of the parts for the original. How far off could I be? 🙂
