Yesterday, I saw a link on Twitter to a list of worst LEGO sets ever made. Curiosity got the best of me, and I had to check it out. While I agree with the list for the most part, there are some sets listed I actually appreciate.
Sets I agree with
LEGO 6846 Fire Truck & LEGO 6407 Fire Chief
I totally agree with the original poster. These “trucks” are red and come with firefighters. That is where the similarities to fire trucks ends. These were part of the infamous Town Junior days, and came out just as I was emerging from my Dark Ages. With product like this, it’s a wonder that I became an AFOL!
LEGO 8009 Technic R2-D2
This sad little astromech is only recognizable to the most diehard Star Wars fans. After such terrible attempts at brick built characters, I’m glad LEGo finally figured it out with the newer Rogue One and Force Awakens models. These early attempts were pitiful.
The entire Galidor line
I don’t even know what to say about this. It was terrible, top to bottom, and left to right. I can’t believe this idea was pitched, and there was actual buy in for this concept. This has to be one of the worst toy ideas in the history of bad ideas. Galidor is certainly deserving of the title Worst LEGO Sets Ever.
Sets I disagree with
LEGO 7200 & 7201 Final Duel
I really have no problem with these sets. Sure the models are weak, but these seem to be the early ancestors of today’s battle packs. You got a bunch of sweet Star Wars figures for a great price.
Fabuland
Ok, weird concept, yes, but I have seen worse. I like the fanciful feel of these sets, and I would kill to have a bunch of those figures!
Worst LEGO sets in my opinion
I agree with The Art of LEGO that Galidor was far and awat the worst LEGO sets of all time. It just defies logic how they actually came to be… In my opinion, a close 2nd and 3rd for worst would be:
LEGO Hero Factory and Bioncle. I don’t understand these things at all, and judging by how easy they are to find on clearance, I don’t think I am alone in this.
What are some of the worst LEGO sets ever made in your opinion? List them in the comments below. I’m curious to see what people think!
I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
Missing Jack Stone. I personally really dig #Bionicle and never got any #HeroFactory (that was during my dark ages)
Ugh! Of course Jack Stone deserves a mention on this list!
