I can’t even tell you how excited I was to hear that LEGO was going to be making Lord of the Rings sets. The Lord of the Rings is my all time favorite literary work, and the movies are among my favorites as well. I knew it was only a matter of time until I could build a proper LEGO Helm’s Deep. Sadly, I was beaten to it by goelkim2011.
Epic LEGO Helm’s Deep
There is so much to love in this LEGO Helm’s Deep display. First, its scale is immense. I have never seen that amount of orcs. And look at the size of Deeping Wall. Just incredible. The colors used in the walls are perfect. just enough variation to avoid the big-ugly-wall syndrome. And the rockscaping is fantastic.
My only question is, did the orcs of Saruman have ballistae?
This LEGO Helm’s Deep isn’t incredible only because of its sheer size. It’s incredibly detailed as well. it portrays the emotions of the besieged forces of Rohan. And it shows the unyielding ferocity of the orcs as well.
Did you see the LORD of the Rings character that was out-of-place in this scene?

I am an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) and an active member of the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG). I have loved LEGO for as long as I can remember. I am currently working on the following models:
– UCS Millenium Falcon
– Emmett’s Apartment Building
– Gringott’s Bank
1700 orcs and 300 elves. And $20, 000 of awesome 🙂 love it and the subsequent photos are brilliant…..
Yeah, I have no idea how you finance a project of that scale.
I guess dedication, deep pockets or a sponsor from a shop…
Sponsorships… Interesting idea.
